あるときは、あなたはノミと金槌をもって大理石の塊りを前にたっている。あなたの課題ははっきり定まってる。描いている像と技術を投入して、なかに隠された最高の彫像をあらわにすること。

でもまたあるときには、ひざまで浸かる泥のなかにいて、自分がなんでその沼に歩み入ってしまったのかを考えてる。課題がくすんで、定まっていない。無定形のどろどろから構造を組みたてあげるのは、あなた次第。

たとえば軍隊がジャングルでの戦闘にも砂漠での戦闘にも備えなくちゃいけないように、私たちも様々なかたちで現れる課題をうけおえる状態でなくちゃいけない。そして、そうできるようになる唯一の方法が、宿題をやっておく、心と技能を研ぎすませておく、つまり準備をしておくこと。

あなたは、日常のなかに現れる様々な課題をうけおえる準備ができていますか？　たとえ持ち札がわるくても、あなたに配られたカードでゲームをする心構えができていますか？　課題が現れるまで待っていちゃダメ。宿題をやるのは、準備をするのは今だ。

In one instance you stand in front of a block of marble with hammer and chisel. Your challenge is clearly defined - you leverage your vision and skills to uncover that great statue hidden inside.

But in another instance you're up to your knees in goo, trying to make sense about why you waded into the swamp. Your challenge is murky and not well defined - it's up to you to bring together structure from an amorphous glop.

Like the army that must be prepared to engage in both the jungle and the desert, you must be ready to take on challenges that present themselves in different forms. And the only way you can do that is through preparation - doing your homework, sharpening your mind and skills.

Are you prepared to take on the diverse challenges that may show up in your life? Are you ready to play with the cards you're dealt to; even a bad hand? Don't wait until the challenges show up. Do your homework, get ready now.
