「白牙」、「太古の呼び声」、「海の狼」といった作品をのこす大作家は、ただ机に座って考えつづけ、ヒラメキがやってくるのを待っていたわけじゃない。彼は宿題をこなしていた。ひろく旅して回り、たくさんの人たちに会い、たくさんの地理を自分でみて、たくさんの体験をした。ロンドンの傑作のいくつかは、１８９０年代のゴールドラッシュ時に、彼がおもむいた未開地ユコンへの旅がいしずえになっている。そういった経験が、宿題が、彼のうちにある創造的天才を刺激、発動したのだ。

ヒラメキを得るには、あなたの天才を動かすには、つとめて準備をしなくちゃいけない。つまり、技能をあげる、知識をふやす、経験をひろげる、という宿題をしていること。それがあなたの棍棒だ！

The author of such great books as White Fang, The Call of the Wild, and The Sea Wolf didn't sit at his desk pondering, waiting for inspiration to show up. He did his homework, traveled extensively, and encountered many new people, geographies, and experiences. London's trip to the Yukon wilderness during the Gold Rush of the 1890's became the foundation for some of his greatest books. The experiences - his homework - inspired and sparked the creative genius inside him.

To become inspired, to spark your genius, you must prepare - diligently. That means doing your homework: improving your skills, increasing your knowledge, and and expanding your experiences. That's your club!
