"People say, ‘Ron, you’re so lucky.’ Yeah, the harder I work, the luckier I am." - Ron Popeil, creator of, and pitchman for, the Showtime Rotisserie, Veg-o-Matic, Pocket Fisherman, and many other products from Ronco.

"Just set it and forget it." - that phrase, part of the pitch for the Showtime Rotisserie, has earned Ron Popeil millions. Ron's the silver-tongued inventor of many kitchen appliances and convenience products you've probably seen on late night or early morning infomercials.

Ron came from a broken home and a difficult childhood, and began working at an early age. Now in his 70s, and having amassed many millions, he still works; works at what he loves - creating new products and pitching them on television. He's singularly passionate about his mastery of inventing and selling kitchen and convenience products.

Hard work, combined with passion for what you do, will enable you to surmount obstacles, unlock opportunities, and exceed your expectations. But first, you must answer - for yourself - a few key questions: 1) What's your passion? (or, perhaps, how can you find your passion?) and 2) How hard are you willing to work to fulfill that passion and realize your dreams?

Failure should be a teacher, not an undertaker.
- Denis Waitley

When was the last time you heard someone speak of failure as a peak experience? That is, except for those who chose to see their failure as an inflection point - a time for personal illumination. A time when they recognized the problem, and moved toward the solution.

Failure and opportunity are two sides of the same coin. But when failure shows up, few turn the coin over to see what opportunity presents itself on the other side.

Today’s a great day to consider how you deal with failure. Do you deny it, flee from it, or, perhaps, create a scenario of personal catastrophe? Or do you step back, seek the positive side of the experience, and embrace the opportunity that failure brings to you? How you see failure is all about your attitude, your awareness, and your perception.

"Readers are plentiful: thinkers are rare." - Anthony Burgess

So many buy personal development books, so few see positive change. Why?

Is it because too few take the time to think? To thoughtfully consider what they read, and how it might positively change the direction they're now headed?

Is it because among those who do take the time to think, even fewer act? Do they fear the challenge and discomfort of applying what they've read, what they've learned, to their own lives?

Take the time, and make the effort, to think. And then act.

Best wishes,

Bob
